Tamil star’s performances in the year 2008


Kollywood had a little bit better future this year with most of the Tamil films hitting the hit phase and the big heroes making merry at the box office.


Some of the facts, about the Tamil celebrities this year are lined up below relating to their movie performances

Kamal Hassan- With much hype, Kamal’s Dasavatharam was released this year and the movie earned well at the box office with a total collection of Rs 80 crores. Kamal was happy that his hard work of 2 years has finally paid him well.

Rajnikanth- Superstar Rajnikanth had a bitter experience this year with his KUSELAN opening on high expectations. But the movie met a disaster in the second week as the collections were below than average in the year 2008. Thus, the movie was declared a super flop with a loss of almost 40 crores to the distributors.

Vijay- Vijay is one actor who can be banked on as his theory of one movie per year is paying off. His latest release KURUVI has passed the 100 day mark and the movie and has earned almost 48 crores at the box office. This ejected Vijay’s position to the top in Kollywood.

Vikram – Vikram who had high expectations on his movie Bheema was dissatisfied with its performances. The movie had a high opening, but at last gathered back its investments finally. The reason was said to be the movies unnecessary delay.

Surya- Vaaranam Aayiram released with high expectations and is said to be a emotional movie with a lot of sentiment sprinkled on it. The movie earned well in its first two weeks of run gathering almost 28 crores till now. Still the movie has along way to go and will surely hit the 35 crore target.

Ajith- Ajith who made it big with BILLA last year had his second release AEGAN in October. The movie had high expectations and thus survived as expected.
